me@Playons2009

I would like to share with you all my experience of being one of the comparer in the grand evening of our annual day also known as Playons. First I was getting Goosebumps because I had never done this before but I tried to gather all the courage I had .As everyone had shown so much faith in me I just could not think of letting them down... Then I took one deep breath and announced for the first program. We had the students from the choir and kindergarten who started the function with the beautiful prayers to evoke God’s presence. After seeing their performance I thought even I could do it and there was nothing to be scared of and my teachers filled me with the enthusiasm and also told me that I could do it. I started the program, in the mean time our school’s director Deepa ma’am told us that the guest of honour was not there so we had to really maintain our cool and handle the situation as I had just began the first line introducing the guest of honour. Oh God! What a fiasco we would have made if we had got scared and messed up. After Deepa ma’am had welcomed the chief guest, I began introducing the chief guest and then what…….. a mosquito started to irritate me! Gosh!! It surely had eagle’s eye…….and it chose me…… Oops, do I have sweet blood??? So, that creature made me conscious of what I was doing. But what to do, as they say –“The show must go on”
Then after waiting for a long time it was time for our play. I had to make moustaches as I had to play the role of the master of the ceremony. As soon as the play was over I came down to the podium and started to rub the moustache off. My co-comparer Shiv started to tease me but as I rubbed it he was left with nothing to say…..complete mouth shut (just kidding). I was now again back to my original self. Shiv appreciated me a lot for my performance but as soon as the curtain call song was over we had to again start with the comparing as it was not over yet. After announcing for our Middle Years Program Leader to present the vote of thanks speech, myself and Shiv rushed to our class to change as the dispersal was going to start and we ran through the backstage at a very high speed giggling all the way as we could not see much in the dark. At the end of the day for me it was kind of a great victory as I thought I had won some war. All my teachers praised me a lot and some of the viewers also did so. I felt as if I was on the eleventh cloud…….. and I would love to do it again in my life if I got an opportunity. It was one of the great achievements for me. I feel like discovering a new ‘ME’ within myself….I feel a lot more confident. ‘Stage’, which is a challenge for majority of people, is more like a home coming for me.
